Uncomfortably at peace

Sat Oct 20, 2007, 3:32 AM
  • Mood: Artistic
  • Watching: friends
  • Eating: lychees
  • Drinking: water
I sit there sipping my hot milky tea in the warm sunlight, a gentle sea breeze dancing through my fingers as I draw the vibrant flowing ocean before me. I study each little shift in color from the greeny shimmer of the clear blue sea over the golden sand as it licks the beach, to the deep darkest blues far in the distance as the ground beneath the waves sinks deeper into the under belly of the earth. The soft white flickering of the waves edge, like a delicate lace trim on billowing blue bed sheets, moves effortlessly over this fluid landscape; while I, with solid dry pastels, attempt to capture this wet, flowing, blue green rainbow.
The tea is smooth, sweet, comforting, as the sun warms my skin. Other students sit in the sand down below with their paints, inks and pastels, all attempting the same feat as I, to capture the beauty of our vast surroundings in the limited space of a double page spread in our A3 college sketchbooks.
For some time I pause.. I look across the beach and up to the chapel where I used to love to sit in the summer, with views stretching out to my left and right, exposing the town of St.Ives in a most awe inspiring way. The ocean is just so blue on the cornish coast, so alive and unpolluted, just how it should be. Water is life, and here we can see this. Despite the icy chill of its touch, it still looks so comforting and calming for the soul, leaving a warm tingling feeling all about your body.
A moment passes and I feel anxious.. I'm sat doing nothing.. I should be drawing, painting, writing, in that gallery I was told to visit, walking, anything.. but no.. I sit.. I look.. I don't even think for a little while.. but the shock of this lack of activity, this pure peace, takes me by the throat and tries to steal my breath. I begin to move, I get up.. I move on. I walk to the other side of town and begin my next piece of work.
Every time one of these moments comes up, it becomes uncomfortable oh too soon..
What happened to being able to be peaceful? and just enjoy it.. not feel rushed to experience it then get on with what has to be done..
Why are we no longer able to forget about what has to be done and let ourselves be consumed by our moments of peace, especially when they now come so few and far between.
WHY DOES LIFE HAVE TO BE SUCH A DAM STRESS!!
to the point that even when we find peace its stressful because we are thinking OMG SHIT IVE ACTUALLY BEEN RELAXING!!! IM GETTING BEHIND WITH WORK!! I SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING!!!! AAAAAAARRRRGHHHH

SAVE ME!!! :(

FUCK I MISS CORNWALL...

I'm going to do everything in my power to get into Falmouth Uni next year and move back down to Cornwall..

Theres no effort in looking for the beauty there.. in the people or the places.. it is what it is. and it does it so well..

It brings tears to my eyes whenever I return.. I could go on about why I love it forever..

Everyone should visit cornwall at least once in their life!

Penzance, St.Ives and Hayle, Newlyn, Marazion and Long Rock, Mousehole, Lands End, St.Austell, Pen Kernow (Cape Cornwall), Pendeen, St.Just, Botallack, Sennen and Sennen Cove, Porthcurno and Treen, Praa Sands and Perranuthnoe, St.Hilary and Rosudgeon...

VISIT THEM ALLLLL lol

South West Cornwall is AMAZING.. so is the rest of Cornwall like Falmouth and stuff.. but SW wins!! lol
